How does a customer share their preferences with my business?
Customers create a share link in the Pref app and send it to your business over text, email, or by scanning a QR code. You open the link in any browser — no staff app needed — and see the preferences they chose to share with hosts.
Do I need to buy software or install anything?
Not for the basics. A browser and a way to receive the link (text, email, QR) is enough. A staff-facing business plan with multi-user shared notes and guest lookup by phone number is in development — reach out at hello@prefpref.com if you want early access.
Is this HIPAA-compliant if a customer shares a medical preference?
Pref is not a HIPAA-covered platform — we're a consumer app for everyday preferences, not a medical records system. Customers can choose to share medical preferences with you, but if you're a healthcare provider with HIPAA obligations, treat Pref-sourced info the same way you'd treat a customer's verbal mention: as a useful signal, not as a medical record.
Can I respond back with my business's own preferences?
Yes — a bidirectional share feature (your restaurant's allergen handling, your hotel's accessibility facts, your salon's house rules) is in development and will ship with the business plan.
